Fun Date Night Ideas to Try

Date nights are a special time to spend with your partner. Whether you opt for weekly, monthly, or from time to time, it's important to spend that time together. It's also great to do with friends or siblings as a way to connect during the busy seasons of life. No matter who you're "dating", we hope that you give these fun date night ideas a try.

Axe Throwing

If you haven't tried axe throwing, we highly recommend it. It's a challenging activity that creates competition but is so much fun. We've gone several times and always laugh at how bad we are. The best part is when you do finally hit the target and can celebrate together. If you don't have axe throwing in your area, try a velcro axe throwing game. It's all the fun of axe throwing in the comfort of your home.

Plant Shopping

With the growing popularity of plants, going out plant shopping is the ultimate date night for plant parents alike. You can go to your big box hardware store to see what they have in stock or support your local, small businesses. Play plant bingo and see which ones you already have or look for new ones you might not have seen before. Alternatively, if plant shopping is not in your budget, try an at home potting night. Bring clippings to pot or work together to up pot your current plant babies. All that matters is that you're doing it together.

Peruse a bookstore or library

Evening though reading is usually viewed as an individual task, reading together or reading the same books can be a fun way to create connection. Peruse your favorite book store or library and find books that you both love. Relax together and dive into your to be read pile. It's a peaceful date night for those looking for something much more low key.

Paint portraits of each other

After seeing all the viral videos of couples painting portraits of one another, this one was too good to not include. If you haven't seen them, each person has their own canvas and paint supplies. Facing each other so they can't see each other's canvas, they paint a portrait of one another. When they're all done, the reveal the portrait to the person and wait for their response. It's hilarious and fun and you should definitely do it.

Learn how to make your favorite cocktails

It's easy to grab a six pack or bottle of wine and call it good for the night. But getting together and learning to make new or your favorite cocktails is one to try. We recommend looking up recipes on Pinterest or google ahead of time and picking up the items you need before the planned date night. Try making classics like the White Russian or Moscow Mule. Or look for new and fancy things like the New York Sour or variations of the recently resurfaced Negroni. Of course, if you prefer non-alcoholic beverages, making mocktails would be a great alternative.

Take a local class or workshop

There are so many local, small businesses that offer classes or workshops at different times and days. Here at Sandstone, we hosted a Galentine's Charcuterie board workshop that our customers loved. Other local places have cooking classes, wreath making, and more. Check out social media or google to find events happening in your area.

Whether you're going on a date with your partner, or getting together for a friendly date with your gal pals, we hope that these ideas for fun date night ideas inspire you to get out and get connected. It's all about having fun and taking a break from your everyday life. Stay in or get out and about, what's important is getting together.
